Scheduled to launch on October 26, 2015, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno has
started reaching at Nexa dealerships. The hatchback will be the second
product, after the S-Cross crossover, to be sold through the company’s
premium outlets. To be available in four trims – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and
Alpha – the Baleno will rival the Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and
Volkswagen Polo.

Powering the premium hatchback is a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine that offer a maximum power of 84bhp with 115Nm of torque, and 73.9bhp with 190Nm respectively. While a five-speed manual gearbox will be offered as standard, a CVT unit will be made available only on the Delta petrol model.
Based on Suzuki’s new-generation platform, the Baleno features projector headlamps, conventional grille with V-shaped chrome surround and wide air-intake inlet, LED daytime running lights, wraparound windows, a slopping roof and body-coloured bumpers. While the base variants are equipped with 15-inches wheels, the top-model gets 16-inches alloys wrapped with 195/55 R16 tyres. The hatchback measures3,995mm in length, 1, 745mm in width and 1,500mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,520mm, and a ground clearance of 170mm.
Features like seven-inch SmartPlay infotainment system (first-in-segment), leather-wrapped steering and gear knob, height-adjustable driver seat, keyless entry and go are offered on the higher variants. While the dual front airbags, central locking, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD)come as standard equipment. The premium hatchbackwill be made available in six exterior paint options – Granite Grey, Solid Fire Red, Premium Urban Blue, Ray Blue, Metallic Premium Silver, Pearl Arctic White, Autumn Orange.
