Airtel offers 5GB additional data to home broadband users as JioFiber launch nears

The telecom war between Jio and Airtel may not end anytime soon. Now, it seems, the two telecom giants are somewhat shifting their focus on the broadband sector. We know, Mukesh Amabani headed RIL is testing JioFiber and is expected to launch it soon. Although there's no confirmed timeline as of yet. Meanwhile, Airtel is leaving no stone unturned to counter the upcoming JioFiber. Airtel on Friday announces to offer 5GB of additional data postpaid subscribers with Airtel home broadband connection.
This new broadband offer is a part of Airtel's 'myHome Rewards' programme. The offer will be available to select users only depending on their telecom circle. So, Airtel postpaid connections linked to the Airtel home broadband account will get an additional 5GB of data on their plan. Here's how the offer works:
--You take up a plan as per your requirement
--The 5GB of data will be credited later on your myAirtel app
--You may get a text message or a notification after the 5GB data is credited on your myAirtel account
--To claim the data, you can head over to the myHome tab section on the myAirtel app
--After claiming it, the additional 5GB data will be credited to your account

Note that the extra 5GB data will not be a part of the postpaid data rollover scheme. To recall, back in the month of November 2017, Airtel expanded its data rollover facility to its broadband users as well. With data rollover, Airtel users can carry forward the unused data on to the next billing cycle, but conditions apply. The Airtel broadband users have a data rollover limit of 1,000GB, while the postpaid users have a rollover limit of 200GB. Get all details here
Meanwhile, Airtel is also offering additional 10GB of data to every Airtel postpaid or Airtel digital TV connection linked to that particular home broadband connection.

JioFiber may launch soon

Reliance Jio is set to make its broadband service, aka JioFiber official very soon. JioFiber - as reported by India Today Tech earlier is currently in its testing stage in limited trials in major cities like Delhi and Mumbai. For now JioFiber is available in select areas in around 10 cities as free 3-month trial. During the trial period, the users who can manage to get it -- all depends on the area where you want it -- need to pay a refundable deposit of Rs 4,500. In return, they get a router, which also enables Wi-Fi, and a 100mb connection with monthly data limit of 100GB. The formal launch of JioFiber is yet to happen.
